22 March 2017
Limewood’s M1 team has been declared Mini League Champions of 2016-17.
In the final round on 22 March our M1 team thumped Rose Forgrove M6 by 4 points to 1, winning all three boards and sharing the grading handicap points. The decisive victory took them ahead of their rivals (including our own M2 squad) to win the competition by a clear margin.
Five Limewood members have been involved in the winning team.
The Roll of Honour is:
~ Steve Hodgson – played in all 5 matches
~ Paul May – played in 4 matches
~ Philip May – played in 4 matches
~ Chris Tatham – played in 1 match
~ Bob Maltby – played in 1 match
The Club’s hearty thanks and congratulations to all five of them!
Our M2 team has also distinguished itself. All season it has vied with M1 team for top place in the Mini League. It has finished Joint Second.
The M2 team has kept the same 3 players throughout the competition. They are: John Light, Barry Fulthorpe and Alan Riddle.
Here are the final league table positions (copied from Chessnuts, with thanks).
So a superb result overall for a club that only came into existence 2½ years ago.
