Tweedledum and Tweedledee fought for their nursery rattle at the Fox & Grapes tonight with Limewood B at home to Limewood A.
Paul May resolved the conflict of interest in team selection by nobly excluding himself from the pairings and ensuring that both teams had winning possibilities.
It worked well. There were no easy games and two games (it could easily have been three) produced wins for Team B against the grain of the gradings.
At Board 3 Barry Fulthorpe for Team B won against Philip May over 52 moves while at Board 1 there was an even more prolonged struggle before Chris Tatham conceded to Andy Pollard (Team B).
At the other boards Team A prevailed in line with the gradings.
At the end of the evening, it was Tweedledee (aka Team A) who took home the rattle, by 3 points to 2.
