Limewood won 9 of its 15 games in tonight’s matches. Our B and C Teams were in festive mood, both of them beating their oponents by 3½ to 1½. Team A had a rougher time, though, losing narrowly by 3 points to 2.
Team A faced strong opponents in Moortown A but managed to bring back something from 3 of the 5 games. Paul Brencher won at the top board while Richard Cowan and Howard Brears both drew their games.
Team B were at home to Harrogate B but offered meagre hospitality. Wins by Richard Sanger, Bob Maltby and Duncan Stables and a draw by John Light ensured the Harrogate team went home hungry and unsatisfied.
Team C notched up their 2nd win of the season with a clear away win against Rose Forgrove E. Captain Steve Hodgson and Alec Marley both won their games. For Alec this was his first win for the club and therefore a game to be savoured. At Board 4 Neil Harris also produced his first score for the club – a draw against Forgrove’s Andy Parker. It was thus a memorable night for 2 of the club’s most recent recruits. Lewis Carroll had an easy time at Board 5 – a win by default.
