Target achieved

15 April 2015
Put up the flags! Let the bells ring out! We’ve hit our target, met our quota, fulfilled our norm, achieved our aims for our first season in the Leeds League.

What was that ambition? Very simply: not to finish at the bottom of Division 3.

And we’ve done it!

Mind you, it was a close-run thing. We ended with the same number of match points as Leeds B but we edge above them by having won more individual games: 27 against 25. Yes, it was as close as that. Every game was important as well as overall match results.

TEAM PLAYED WON DRAWN LOST GAME PTS DEF MATCH PTS
Leeds A 15 11 2 2 51 0 24
Alwoodley C 15 10 3 2 48.5 0 23
Forgrove F 15 5 4 6 31 0 14
Forgrove E 15 6 2 6 38.5 1 13
LIMEWOOD 15 3 2 10 27 1 7
Leeds B 15 1 5 9 25 0 7

It’s a good start for a brand-new club mainly composed of players new to club competition.

The season isn’t over yet, though. There are still 2 Mini League matches (on 6 and 27 May) and the two final rounds of the ‘Individuals’ competition. In the Mini League, as shown on the Chessnuts website, we are 8th out of 12 teams, only 4 points behind the league leaders.
