A contest of classic brands: Rolls Royce on the one hand. And the iconic Morris Minor on the other, fresh out of its Limewood stable.
It was a 12-board rapidplay match online with 25 minutes each player plus 10 secs per move. Each team member played the same opponent twice, once as White, once as Black.
No fairytale ending here: the tortoise did not beat the hare, the Morris Minor did not beat the Rolls Royce.
Rolls Royce won by 17 points to 7.
Yet 6 of our 12 players did manage to bring something back in the form of a won or drawn game.
John Grasham and Philip May won both their pair of games . Tom Leah (2 draws) and Paul Smith (1 win) brought home a point each. And Paul Johnson and Michael Carrigan each managed to draw one of their games.
A great performance by all of them against a very strong opposition.
