Which author wrote this?
“Chess in particular had always annoyed him. It was the dumb way the pawns went off and slaughtered their fellow pawns while the kings lounged about doing nothing that always got to him; if only the pawns united, maybe talked the rooks round, the whole board could’ve been a republic in a dozen moves.”
Hint: It is fiction – a murder mystery but one you won’t find on the Crime shelves at Waterstones or your local library. The prolific author is British and their books have sold in their millions.
Answers invited to limewoodchessclub@yahoo.co.uk. No prize but you might just possibly get an honorary mention in Paul’s next blog. Bonus points if you can name either the actual book or, probably easier, the fictional city where it all happens.
