The new season has started. Limewood has 5 teams in the main league (plus teams in the other competitions) – more than ever before. And a whole raft of new players.
Here’s how our new array of teams fared in League Round 1 played on 28 September 2022.
Division 1: Limewood A lost away to Rose Forgrove A by 3 points to 2 in a close match that could have gone either way.
Division 2: Limewood B beat Leeds University B by 3 points to 2.
Division 3: Limewood C beat clubmates Limewood D by 3 points to 1 (both teams suffering a defaulted Board 5 due to Covid), while our Limewood E team lost at home to Leeds C by 4 points to 1.
Four players were making their first appearance for Limewood, between them securing 3 wins and a draw. Daniel Staples took the draw at Board 1 in the ‘A’ team. Michael Connor won at Board 1 for the ‘B’ team while Reuben Wilberg and newcomer-to-the-league Ben Van Loo both won in Division 3. There was also the welcome return of Phil Higgins from a couple of years’ absence.
Next week: first rounds of the Mini League and Rapidplay League.
