Paul Johnson (he of our cup-winning Arjay team) has created a new control program for pairing players in competitions using the Swiss System. To test it out Paul has arranged a 1-day tourney at York on Sunday 8 September.

Paul writes:
As I have now nearly finished my suite of Visual Basic programs to control a senior chess congress, I am planning to try out this program suite with a one day Quickplay event for Sunday 8 September at the York RI, where we will have use of two rooms on the first floor.
We are going to make the start time as 10.30am to allow us to get in 6 rounds where both players have 20 or maybe 25 minutes each and I am hoping Richard Hardy can provide a buffet for us all to have after the third round say.
I will get to the RI at 9am to be ready to do the draw for the first round by 10.15 am so that the pairing cards can be drawn up and given out to all the players for them to start playing at 10.30am prompt.
I am hoping 30-40 players will be taking part.
A fee of £5 per person is to be charged, and the monies will be used up for giving prizes at the end of the day.
Please let me know if you are interested in taking part by emailing me at:
