Limewooders again made up a goodly proportion – 9 out of 24 – of the players taking part in the weekly online scrap between members from Limewood, Alwoodley, Leeds Univ and Rose Forgrove.
For the 2nd week running we failed to make the top three but Paul May in 4th place just missed out on tiebreak. He scored 4 wins from his six games. losing only to the duo who came 1st and 2nd. One of his wins was at the expense of Holi, reversing his defeat of last week. He won on timeout with just 2 seconds left on his clock. Holi (3½ points) by way of compensation beat Paul Johnson (3 points) in another exciting game. Though a rook down in the final stages he managed to win on time. You can play through that game at: https://lichess.org/pjHwlFEh
John Light produced arguably the best against-the-odds result of the evening, checkmating Rose Forgrove’s ex-schoolboy now Leeds University player Sam Playford. Sam was already at a disadvantage, rook-knight exchange down and less than a minute on his clock, when he must have let his mind wander for a moment and presented John with an open goal, which John had no hesitation in accepting. Here is that game:

Another free-for-all is promised for next week.
