Just Two, aka Team B, were playing tonight. Playing and praying, probably, given their dodgy position in Division Two. Their opponents were Alwoodley B, who they needed to beat if they were to climb towards safety from relegation.
It looked promising at first: Paul Anderson won at board 1 while John Grasham and Eric Brodie gained draws at boards 2 and 3, making us 2:1 up.
Alas, it didn’t last. Despite spirited and tenacious performances at boards 4 and 5, the team’s score remained at Just Two.
