The 4th round of the Ellis and Appleby Trophies took place tonight.
In the Ellis, Tom Leah strengthened his position as leader of the pack with a win over Rose Forgrove’s doyen Clive Davies. One more round to go – can Tom keep up the momentum and become 2019’s Ellis Champion? We’ll find out on 29 May.
Our only other entrant in the Ellis, Paul May achieved a draw against recent chess-returnee Tony Ibbitson.
Meanwhile, downstairs (so to speak) in the Appleby, 5 Limewooders were in action. John Light won his game. The rest all lost. ‘Nuff said.
