The Coronavirus has brought Leeds League and Club chess to a grinding halt for at least the next three weeks. Here is the statement issued by the Leeds Chess Association to all clubs playing in the Leeds League:

“Following guidance received from the ECF on 14 March 2020, and the Prime Minister’s statement today, Monday 16th March 2020, the League Committee have decided that all LCA fixtures are suspended for a minimum of three weeks.

“The Committee will decide at a later stage how to proceed if, as seems likely, we are unable to resume after three weeks.

“We wish all members, friends and loved ones the best of health through this difficult period.”

OTB chess around the country – congresses, club nights, league matches, inter-counties competitions, blitz evenings, etc – are being either postponed or cancelled with no-one knowing for sure when normal activity will be resumed.
