A chess event with a difference was held at Alwoodley tonight – a Rapidplay tournament (limited to 10 players) for specially-invited players from around Leeds, all graded under 100. It was the brainchild of Alwoodley’s Sylvan Clarke, who was the Organiser and Arbiter. Several Limewood members were among the select group taking part.
John Light (pictured) was the outright winner with 4 wins from the 4 rounds and received a trophy to add to the collection on his mantelpiece.
Barry Fulthorpe was the other Limewoodie who was in the medals – he was placed 3rd.
It was a highly enjoyable evening with a friendly atmosphere and Sylvan was not called on to arbitrate on disputes.
Congratulations to both our prizewinners and a big Thank You to Sylvan for organising the event.
