Battle for the Mini League title

25 January 2017

It had to happen.

Our two Mini League teams were pitched against each other in Round 4.

It had to happen because the Mini League runs on the Swiss Pairing system and our two 3-player teams held the top 2 positions after Round 3 in December.  (See ‘Sparkling End to 2016’.)

This time the total grades of each team were only a short way apart which meant the handicap points were split one-each, giving neither an advantage.

The result was one win for the 1st team and 2 draws.  Team M1 thus won the match by 3 : 2 when the handicap points are added in.  It was not an easy win – we may be all in the same club but neither team was going to give any favours to its opponents.

On the League table: The 2 Limewood teams are still at the top but joined there on 12 points by Rose Forgrove M5.

There is just 1 match still to go in this Mini League – to be played in March.  Can Limewood see off the Rose Forgrove challenge and lift the Mini League trophy in only the club’s 3rd year of life?
