20 November 2019
….. but not for others.
It was the 4th round of the main league tonight. Three of our teams were playing at home – with the usual space restored after last week’s enforced intimacy. Team A were the absentees, playing away at Rose Forgrove.
The A and B teams had every reason to be happy with the outcomes. The C and D teams probably wish the evening had never taken place.
The results were:
~ Team A, playing in Division 1, beat Rose Forgrove A by 3½ to 1½
~ Team B beat clubmates Team D by 4½ to ½
~ Team C, heavily outgraded, lost to promotion-contenders Harrogate by ½ to 4½
British Rapidplay Championships
Limewood was thinly represented at this year’s British Rapidplay Championships, played over 11 rounds at Pudsey Civic Hall on Sat/Sun 23/24 November. Only 3 members of the club were present, as far as we could tell.
Holi was our sole rep in the Intermediate. He ended with 7 points, just half a point away from the prize money. (The outright winner only scored 8½.)
John Light and Alan Riddle competed in the Minor (U121 ECF) and shared the grading prize for Under 94 grades, with 6 points apiece. They started ranked at positions 32 and 34 respectively in a field of 40 and finished (with others) joint 14th. They both received a big cheque – that is, a small amount of money written on a big piece of paper.
