We meet at the Fox & Grapes Inn (LS15 4NJ) on the York Road A64 at Kiddal Lane End.

Chess players of all strengths are very welcome, whether novice or experienced.

Our teams play in the Leeds Chess League – matches are played on Wednesday evenings starting at 7pm.

We have teams in all of the various Leeds competitions.

Club player of 2019-20

John Grasham won the title of Player of the Year for the curtailed season 2019-20. He scored 9½ points from 13 standard league games and was a member of the club’s B Team that was heading Division 3 when the season was prematurely ended by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Close runners-up and fellow-members of the B Team were Chris Tatham and Howard Brears.

Club Blitz Champion of 2019-20

Tom Leah was our new Blitz Champion. The delayed contest for 2019-20 was held online on 7 October 2020. Tom won 8 of his 9 games, well clear of his nearest rivals.

Runners-up were Paul May and John Grasham

 

We won the Leeds CA Arjay Trophy for 2018-19.
